Round 10 Predictions
Deadline: Sat 17 Oct, 3:00pm
2 - 0
Actual: 1 - 2
The Game Notes: Brentford are still unbeaten in the league. Their home form has been especially impressive, with Chelsea and Spurs both leaving the Gtech empty-handed and well beaten. Liverpool, meanwhile, have drawn far more than they’d like and come into this off the back of a chastening home defeat to City. The Bees have the confidence and the crowd to make it another uncomfortable afternoon for the Reds, and a home win with a clean sheet feels well within reach.
3 - 0
Actual: 3 - 2
The Game Notes: City have won every league game so far and looked ruthless in the process, most recently cruising to a win at Anfield. Ipswich have made a decent start, but their trips away from Portman Road have been far tougher than their home outings. Expect the champions-elect to keep the pressure on at the top with a comfortable, controlled win at the Etihad.
2 - 2
Actual: 0 - 1
The Game Notes: Newcastle haven’t lost at St James’ Park yet, but they’ve been leaking goals at an alarming rate, shipping four in two of their last three away games. Villa have found wins hard to come by, though they’ve shown they can find the net, as their recent draw with Brentford proved. With neither defence inspiring much confidence, goals at both ends and a share of the spoils look a good fit.
1 - 1
Actual: 1 - 1
The Game Notes: Leeds have been one of the surprise packages of the season, solid at the back and so far unbeaten at Elland Road. United have struggled for consistency and have a habit of drawing games they’d expect to win. In a fierce rivalry where nerves can take over, a tight, hard-fought draw feels about right.
2 - 1
Actual: 5 - 0
The Game Notes: Brighton have been the most free-scoring side in the division so far and are yet to lose at the Amex, though a midweek European trip and a stretched squad could take a little of the edge off. Palace have been up and down, but they arrive in a better mood after a convincing win over Forest last time out. The M23 derby rarely lacks bite, and the Seagulls should have enough in attack to edge a lively contest.
1 - 2
Actual: 0 - 1
The Game Notes: Forest have found goals desperately hard to come by and are still searching for a first league win at the City Ground this season. Arsenal have been winning games by narrow margins, and apart from one heavy defeat at Brighton they’ve been consistent, if not always spectacular. Forest may finally get on the scoresheet at home, but the Gunners should do enough to keep pace with City.
